Columbia University’s Jamaican senior Emily MacDonald is known for her tenacity and determination as well as her easy freestyle speed.

All those qualities were on display on the final day of the 2025 Ivy League Championships at Princeton University’s in New Jersey.

She ended the competition as the fastest sprinter the programme has ever produced.

MacDonald became the new owner of the freestyle 100-yard mark with a swim of 49.13 seconds.

That had her in third spot after the preliminaries. That was her highest rank ever after a heats swim at the Ivy League Champs.

There would be more glory to be found in the championship final. The Swimaz Aquatic Swim Club athlete got the bronze in 48.85 seconds.

That would make her the first Columbia female under the 49 seconds barrier.
