European Union ambassador to Jamaica, Dr. Erja Askola, is encouraging Caribbean businesses to take advantage of the EU market and the already existing strong free trade agreements.
She was speaking at the official launch of the Caribbean Investment Forum 2025 at the AC Hotel Kingston on Tuesday.
The ambassador’s call comes amid growing economic tension across the world due to shifts in US trade policy. This includes a heavy focus on tariffs and other protectionist barriers against goods entering the United States.
Dr. Askola is reminding the Caribbean that no such restrictions exist on goods from the region entering the EU.
