Financial analyst and chartered accountant, Dennis Chung, says the biggest potential impact from US tariffs could be fewer tourists visiting Jamaica due to a reduction in their disposable income.
The US president, Donald Trump, is expected to announce a raft of new tariffs on Wednesday. The BBC is reporting that Trump’s tariffs will address so-called unfair trade with other countries.
Chung also identified a potential inflationary impact on Jamaican consumers.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Economic Committee of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, Keith Collister says with the global uncertainties to include the potential impact of US tariffs, economic growth in Jamaica this year might be soft.
