A transformer belonging to the Belize Electricity Limited exploded yesterday, sometime after six O’clock in the vicinity of Ramon’s Village Resort, causing a blackout to the entire San Pedro Town. The island, home to approximately 20,000 residents, was left without power, resulting in a power loss of four hours in some parts of the island and five hours in other areas. The actual cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
