Bandits clad in tactical gear and and a bulletproof vest bearing the markings ‘Police’ were able to steal a quantity of jewellery during a home invasion in Diego Martin early on Wednesday morning.
Police said the 26-year-old homeowner was asleep at the property on Covigne Road at around 5.15 am when he heard someone banging on the front door and voices identifying themselves as police officers.
The men then entered the house and ordered him to lie on the floor as they kicked him in his head and demanded money.
The bandits stole $500 in cash, a gold chain worth $75,000 and a gold wrist band worth $30,000 before escaping.
Officers of the West End Police Station were called in and are continuing enquiries.
