Families Search for Missing Relatives in Stann Creek

Richard’s disappearance is not an isolated case in the Stann Creek District. Maurisa Bide says she has also been searching for her missing sister and nephew, describing her sister as someone who keeps to herself and avoids trouble, making the sudden disappearance all the more troubling. Anyone with information on either case is urged to contact local authorities.

Sister: “Well we’re trying to locate my missing sister Valeny Vaide and my nephew Michael Acosta Jr. who was last seen Wednesday night but she was missing early yesterday morning in Pomona Village. My sister lives at the back in the well we call that area the Burial Site Area because of the tremendous rains we were experiencing she lives in an area where the yard usually gets flooded so my parents were concerned about her and they were calling and calling and to no avail. She didn’t respond and so my dad decided to go and look for her and then he discovered that the front door was opened and so when he went inside he found her nowhere to be seen, well my sister and my little nephew.’

Reporter: I understand the house was ransacked ? 

Sister: “Yes. The house was ransacked. All her identifications, everything, her phone was found in the house except for her an my nephew.”

Reporter: Did she have any trouble with anybody ? 

Sister: “Not that we know of. We’re not people who go around stirring up problems with people and then we’re well known in the community for helping people out. So no one comes to mind to say that would harm her.”

Reporter: How old is your sister ? 

Sister: “My sister is 33 years old.”

Reporter: And the child ?

Sister: “He’s 7. My nephew is seven years old.”

Reporter: Is she having any domestic trouble with anyone ? 

Sister: “Not that we know of either. She lives with somebody but at the moment he wasn’t at home. His brother was recently involved with the shooting that happened in Pomona a few weeks back and the guy just came in from surgery and he wanted to go and spend some time with his brother so he wasn’t at home during that time.”
