Fatal Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Oscar Caal Near Hope Creek

Thirty-nine-year-old Oscar Caal lost his life in a road traffic incident near the Hope Creek Bridge in the Stann Creek District.  Emergency personnel responded to the scene, some seven miles outside Dangriga. Love News learned that Caal, who was traveling on his motorcycle, attempted to overtake another vehicle when he collided into oncoming traffic. His brother, Sandino Caal, shared details of their final conversation, about an hour before the fatal crash.

Sandino Caal, Brother of the Deceased: “I spoke to him about an hour and a half ago and he told me he was in Mango Creek area.”

Reporter: You mean this evening? Earlier this evening. About what time more or less? 

Sandino Caal, Brother of the Deceased: “It was like 7 almost 8. And I told him be careful on the road. We were talking, we were talking, I was trying to advise him but I really, it’s hard, it’s….”

Reporter: And what did he say to you? 

Sandino Caal, Brother of the Deceased: “No, he was just listening, we were talking. He stood, he just stood like, I couldn’t even see him. I mean, he was just listening to my advice while I was talking to him. And I know he’s not a person that likes problem or like that but according to his boss somebody picked him up. So I didn’t see the motorcycle because  they moved everything already. The road was open already.”

Reporter: What kind of injuries you saw on him?

Sandino Caal, Brother of the Deceased: “Injuries? He had his body scraped, scraped up, his legs were broken he busted his head and this part of his face was open.”
