President of the Jamaica Boxing Association, Stephen Jones, says applications are pouring in to World Boxing from federations that are still aligned to the International Boxing Association, IBA, since news emerged that the sport will be included in the programme for the 2028 Los Angles Olympics.
IBA was stripped of its status as the sport’s world governing body by the IOC in June 2023, after initially suspending it in 2019.
And boxing at the past two editions of the Olympic Games was organised by the IOC after previously being run by the IBA.
Jones says no further dialogue is needed to convince federations to partner with World Boxing.
