Fifth Woman Killed in 20 Days as Belize Faces Surge in Violence Against Women

Love News is recording the deaths of five women in 20 day.

On October 4, Shaniele Faber, 42, a mother was murdered and her limbs were severed. October 11, Keyra Gentle, 25  was killed in a murder suicide, October 20, Angelita Briceno Magana, 34, a mother was set on fire and on October 22, her daughter, Shadia who suffered burns in the arson passed away. As if that weren’t enough violence against women, Delcia Gentle,  a mother of three children, is the latest victim who died early this morning. LOVE NEWS   Rafael Roberts was on the scene and has the story.

Rafael Roberts, Reporter: “Police found Delcia Flowers, a 34-year-old mother of three children, with a large cut wound to the back of the neck as she laid unconscious in her own blood on a sofa in her Complex Avenue home in the Lake Independence area of Belize City. Her daughter, a high school student, received injuries to the head and body in what appears to have been a struggle. They were both rushed to the K H M H where flowers died shortly after while receiving medical treatment. Tyrone Reyes, Delcey Flowers, his brother-in-law says his wife, Delcey’s sister, wanted to spend time with her last night so they both went over and were watching a movie and socializing only to receive the horrible news a few hours later.

Tyrone Reyes, Brother-In-Law: “This is going to show you this is beyond abusive with relationships, this goes beyond it. This is a tragedy with sick people like this, just want to beat woman and kill them like that brother. This man, I don’t know, I am  just kind of outrage but there is nothing I can do because I don’t want to say anything on tv that might incriminate me. This is simpleness. I  left my sister-in-law good, this morning my sister-in-law was dead.”

Rafael Roberts, Reporter: “Reyes called for stiffer penalties for perpetrators in the wake of increased violence against women and girls.”

Tyrone Reyes, Brother-In-Law: “We need to get people like this off the streets. They don’t even deserve a trial. They deserve to die. Really, they deserve to die. There should be no trial.”
