Jamaica’s national swimming coach Gillian Millwood and Dellan Brown of the Bahamas both agree that finance is the biggest hurdle preventing Caribbean swimmers from transitioning from the junior to senior level more frequently.
Millwood, who is also head coach of Y-Speedos, says Jamaica lost several promising junior swimmers due to lack of funding.
Brown, the coach of Blue Waves in the Bahamas, says the region needs a swimming Grand Prix for the Caribbean swimmers to earn at the senior level.
