Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records restaurant in Montego Bay was damaged by a fire early Saturday morning, according to a statement from the company.
The St. James location has been without electricity since Hurricane Melissa and has been operating on generator power to support World Central Kitchen, which has been using the facility to prepare daily meals for storm-affected communities. The restaurant had not yet resumed public service as staff continued to deal with hurricane-related challenges.
Around 1:47 a.m., members of the meal-preparation team arrived and discovered the blaze. The Jamaica Fire Brigade was alerted immediately, but by the time firefighters reached the property, the upper floor was already engulfed. Crews managed to contain the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Tracks & Records said it is now assessing the damage while the Jamaica Fire Brigade carries out a formal investigation into the cause. The company added that its priority is maintaining safety and stabilizing whatever operations are still possible, especially its ongoing support for World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts. Further updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available.
