Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley is accusing the People’s National Party, PNP, of contriving controversy over the appointment of Dennis Chung as chief technical director of the Financial Investigations Division, FID, to distract from achievements of the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, administration.
Senator Fitz-Henley says the PNP has one plan, to tell lies on Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness.
Senator Fitz-Henley was addressing a media conference at the JLP’s headquarters on Belmont Road in St. Andrew on Monday.
He says a story published by one media entity suggesting Chung lacks qualifications for the top job at the FID, is misleading.
Meanwhile, Senator Fitz-Henley says the PNP has been improperly targeting members of the public service and other holders of key public office.
He criticised the PNP for past calls for the resignation of former Commissioner of Police Antony Anderson, attacks on Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewelyn and Major General Rocky Meade.
Those three individuals have served across both administrations.
