Steelpan Month hits full stride this weekend with a packed line-up of music, culture, and celebration across the country. From Tobago’s big panorama launch to youth performances in the heart of Port of Spain, here’s your guide to where the sweet sounds will be ringing out.
📅 Saturday 9 August – Steelpan Jamborees
Four simultaneous shows will bring music to every corner of the country from 6 pm:
- Tobago: Scarborough Esplanade
- North: bp Renegades Steel Orchestra Panyard
- East: Curepe Scherzando Steel Orchestra Panyard
- South: Band Stand, Harris Promenade, San Fernando
📅 Saturday 9 August – Launch of THA Tobago Panorama 2025
The official start of the Tobago Panorama season kicks off at 7 pm at Scarborough Esplanade. Bands on the bill include Natural Mystic, Metro Stars, Dixieland, T&TEC New Eastside Dimension, Alpha Pan Pioneers, NGC Steel Xplosion, Katzenjammers, and calypsonian Johnny King.
📅 Sunday 10 August – Steelpan on a High Note of Praise and Worship
From 4 pm, Pan Trinbago’s headquarters at 55 Dundonald Street, Port of Spain will host an evening blending steelpan with gospel and praise music.
📅 Monday 11 August – World Steelpan Day Celebrations
The NGC-sponsored celebrations start with a 5 pm Ancestral Walk from the Massy Trinidad All Stars panyard, followed by the formal programme at Woodford Square from 6 pm.
📅 Tuesday 12 August – Steelpan on D Promenade: Youth Edition
Catch the next generation of pannists performing from 1 pm along Brian Lara Promenade, between Abercromby and Edward Streets, Port of Spain.
