A gathering last night was shattered by gunfire on Aloe Vera Street in Belize City, leaving five men nursing gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. The victims have been identified as 29-year-old Captain James Young Jr. of University Heights, 18-year-old student Jermaine Smart of Olivera Street, 34-year-old Douglas Gill of Aloe Vera Street, 28-year-old businessman Lismo Williams, and 20-year-old fisherman Aristotle Hughes. Eastern Division Regional Commander, ACP Hilberto Romero, told Love News that the men were socializing on the street when an unknown assailant opened fire.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Information is that all of them were at a yard at Aloe Vera when two male persons came on a bicycle and fired several shots towards their direction. We have several persons in custody in regards to this investigation. There are several issues that are being looked at, one being that they are fishermen and also rivalry between two groups in that area. All of them were at the area and all of the shots were fired towards all of them. We have several persons in custody but no one has been charged. The operation is continuing in that area and we will enforce our patrols in that particular area.”
As of 6pm news time, no arrests have been made.
