Ian Forbes, Vice President of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, JAAA, believes the scheduled time frame for the recently concluded National Senior Trials is proving to be a master stroke.
The national championships ran from June 26 to 29
Speaking with Nationwide Sports, Forbes explained that the period between now and September’s World Championships in Tokyo, Japan will give athletes sufficient time to get the required qualifying marks needed to book their spot at the games.
Jamaica’s relay teams: the men’s 4-by-100-metres and the mixed 4-by-400-metres failed to meet the qualifying mark at the Barbados Grand Prix.
However, Jamaica will have another crack at securing qualification at the London Diamond League on July 19.
According to Forbes, he’s still confident that the team will secure the marks needed.
