Former Corozal Mayor Paulino Montalvo Dies

Former Corozal Town Mayor and businessman Paulino “Pompy” Montalvo has died. Montalvo served as mayor from January 1988 to April 1990, during which his administration pursued improvements to public utilities, town cleanliness, playgrounds, parks and sporting facilities.  In March 1990, Montalvo and the Corozal Town Board erected a historical marker and bust at Central Park in honour of former mayor and area representative Felipe Santiago Ricalde.  Outside of public office, Montalvo spent more than three decades managing Aventura Farm, where he was involved in cattle rearing and sugar cane cultivation. In March 2000, he established Aventura Furniture, which he continued to operate as a local businessman.  Montalvo is being remembered for his years of public service, his business contributions and his commitment to the development of Corozal Town.
