A former cashier of Madisco Company Limited remains before the courts accused of stealing more than 45 thousand dollars from the company. 25-five-year-old Kelsey Pope returned to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today for her second appearance in connection with the matter, which stems from allegations first reported earlier this year. Pope, who is represented as a caregiver of Johnson Street in Belize City, is accused of stealing forty-five thousand, four hundred and twenty-one dollars and thirty-four cents in cash belonging to Madisco Company Limited. The allegations are tied to cash deposits that were reportedly never made into the company’s account between November and December of last year. This morning, Pope appeared unrepresented before newly appointed Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court Number Seven, where the matter was adjourned to June 26 for disclosure. The case is ordinarily assigned to Court Number Three, however, the sitting magistrate for that court was unavailable today. Police say the matter was reported on February 26 by thirty-two-year-old Adair Gongora, Financial Controller at Madisco Company Limited on Cleghorn Street in Belize City. According to investigators, Gongora reported that Pope, who was employed as a cashier at the company, had allegedly failed to deposit forty-five thousand, four hundred and twenty-one dollars and thirty-four cents in sales revenue into the company’s account. The money reportedly remains unaccounted for. Following the report, police launched an investigation during which statements were recorded and documents retrieved. Authorities say Pope later handed herself over to police on March 17, when she was informed of the allegations and subsequently charged with a single count of theft. Pope was first arraigned before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on March 18, when she was granted bail. She remains out on bail pending the continuation of the matter next month.
