- / Former NICU Baby Launches Initiative to Help Families of Newborns in Intensive Care
A 13-year-old who was once a baby in NICU, has taken that history as inspiration to support families with babies admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU. The initiative is called Little Wonders with an objective to provide care packages for newborns receiving treatment at the NICU at the KHMH. The care packages, filled with baby essentials, range from diapers to milk and clothing. Founder Gabriella Eck was born prematurely and spent the first ten days of her life in the NICU. She says her inspiration comes from that experience, along with a desire to honor the memory of her late cousin, Pediatrician Dr. Cecilio Eck, and in continuing the charitable legacy of her grandmother’s organization, Seed of Life. Eck spoke with Love News who is making a public appeal to help fill the care packages.
