Four held in anti-crime operations across T&T

Four suspects were arrested this week during ongoing State of Emergency (SoE) operations across the country.

Police said in the Southern Division, Task Force officers conducted a late-night exercise from 11 pm on August 19 to 3 am on August 20, resulting in the arrest of a 22-year-old Gasparillo man and a 20-year-old Moruga man for firearm possession and ammunition. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Jaikaran, ASP Ramsaran, and Insp Wilkinson.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Agency Task Force carried out an afternoon operation in Port-of-Spain between 2 pm and 8 pm on Thursday.

Officers seized several packages of cannabis, weighing 1.5 kilogrammes, from an abandoned structure in Belmont.

The exercise was led by ACP Hazel.

In the Western Division, Maraval Police officers arrested a man on Thursday morning between 7 am and 8.30 am for possession of a white Nissan Almera previously reported stolen.

And, the Northern Division’s Gang Unit and Task Force, Area South, conducted an intelligence-led exercise on August 18 from 1.30 am to 4.30 pm under the Emergency Powers Regulations 2025.

An Arima man was also apprehended for acting in a manner prejudicial to public safety under Regulation 13(1).
