Four women police officers honored during Women’s Month symposium in Dangriga

The officers, Lauren Lopez of Dangriga, Nuwani Arzu of Hopkins, Lynnette Ordonez of the Intermediate Southern Formation, and Janel Myers of Placencia, each received Woman of the Year Awards from their respective formations. The recognition highlights their dedication, professionalism, and continued contributions to law enforcement within their communities.  The event formed part of the Women’s Month activities organized within the Belize Police Department and brought together members of the security forces from across the southern region.  The symposium featured a series of presentations focusing on topics such as women in leadership, higher education opportunities, mental health awareness, and HPV prevention. Among the presenters were Valerie Woods, Erica Aguilar-Villacorta, Iveth Quintanilla, and Camesha Borland, who each shared insights aimed at empowering women within the security forces and the wider community.  The Belize Police Department also expressed appreciation to Police Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado, Deputy Commissioner Sandra Bowden, and other attending commanders for their support of the initiative.  Officials say the recognition of these officers underscores the department’s ongoing commitment to highlighting the important role women play in strengthening law enforcement and contributing to a safer Belize.
