Francis Nolberto Found Guilty of Molesting Six-Year-Old, Sentencing Set for December

A trial without a jury handed down a late evening guilty verdict yesterday to Francis Nolberto, 49, for molesting a 6-year-old child twice, back in 2022.

Nolberto was charged with the offenses of assault of a child under the age of 16 by penetration or fondling the little girl’s private parts with his fingers and sexual assault for licking the child on her private parts.

Justice Nigel Pilgrim found him guilty of both offenses and remanded him this evening to the Belize Central Prison pending a mitigation plea. His sentencing is set for December 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

The offenses listed occurred on April 11, 2022, at a home where the child was staying. Nolberto had also visited the home and was found in the child’s presence when the incident occurred. At the time of the offense, the child was only nine years old. 

The trial lasted from July 14 until July 17. A key portion of the evidence was a recorded statement by the then six-year-old, in camera.
