Shyne keynote speaker for IMC 2026
Grammy Award-winning artiste-turned-politician Shyne is the keynote speaker for Island Music Conference (IMC) 2026. He will address IMC participants on February 26 at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
Shyne rose from a Brooklyn barbershop discovery to Bad Boy Records stardom. His 2000 début album went platinum. Singles Bad Boyz and Bonnie & Shyne, featuring Barrington Levy, became commercial hits. He contributed to albums by The Notorious B.I.G., Mase, Puff Daddy, Usher, and Lil Wayne. On September 26, he marked the 25th anniversary of his platinum début album.
A 1999 nightclub shooting changed his trajectory. Shyne was convicted of assault and unlawful weapon possession in 2001. He served 10 years. During incarceration, he released his sophomore album Godfather Buried Alive through Def Jam in 2004.
After prison, Shyne entered politics in Belize. He served as member of Parliament from November 2020 to March 2025. His keynote, From Stage to State, explores his journey from music to politics and back again. IMC 2026 runs February 25 to 28.
Keys the first single from Masicka’s upcoming album
Dancehall powerhouse Masicka sets the tone for his next musical chapter with the release of Keys, the first official single from his highly anticipated studio album via Def Jam Recordings. Produced by Westen Weiss, the track delivers a fusion of smooth melodies, lyrical precision, and emotional depth that fans have come to expect from the Generation of Kings hitmaker.
The single explores themes of love, connection, and vulnerability and maintains the confidence and wordplay that have cemented Masicka’s place as one of dancehall’s most consistent and compelling voices. The accompanying visual - shot in Portland, directed by Shane Creative, and produced by 4FortyFour Atelier - captures the lush scenery of the parish and complements the song’s sensual message.
“ Keys represents a new energy and space for me. It’s about love, but also about trust and giving someone access to your heart. As an artiste, I’m showing more emotion, more layers, its growth,” Masicka said.
The song is now available on all major streaming platforms.
