- File photo A 49-YEAR-OLD woman who left her electronics unattended to attend Mass at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port of Spain on Monday returned to find them stolen.
Around 1.10 pm on January 5, the victim, of Palmiste, San Fernando, was at her apartment located on the cathedral’s compound on Hart Street.
Reports say the woman placed her Samsung S20 mobile phone, valued at $5,000, and a $4,000 Dell laptop on a table in the corridor of the apartment. She reportedly pulled the door and gate closed before heading to the chapel area for the service.
When she returned a short time later, she discovered the items, with a combined value of $9,000, missing.
In a separate incident, Carenage police are investigating the theft of a boat and engine valued at $55,000 from a mooring in Chaguaramas.
The victim, a 47-year-old man from Morvant, reported to police at around 5.30 pm on January 3 he secured his 20-foot vessel, "Cassie", at Island Homes. He described the boat as white and blue, equipped with a 30-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine.
The victim told investigators when he returned to the area at 9 am on January 5, the boat and engine were gone. Despite searches in the surrounding waters and shoreline, the vessel was not located.
The boat is valued at approximately $40,000, while the engine is valued at $15,000.
