Two people are dead following an attempted robbery at La Pastora road in Santa Cruz this morning.
Guardian Media understands around 5:45am, a 66-year-old parked his vehicle by the spring on Upper Mountain View Drive to wash his car.
While there a grey Nissan Note pulled up and two men emerged announcing a hold up. The victim, who is an FUL holder, threw the keys at the suspects and as they picked it up, he began discharging several rounds in their direction.
The driver of the vehicle was hit several times and attempted to drive off but crashed into an embankment not far away.
Another suspect who was hit, a woman, died at hospital while the third suspect remains on the run.
