Funeral Service Held for Beloved Arts Educator Leroy Green

A funeral service for career arts educator Leroy Green, who recently suffered a fatal heart attack, was held today at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. Family, friends, artists, government officials, and Green’s Carnival connections gathered at the Bliss to honor his legacy and celebrate his life. Green passed away at his Belize City home on August 8. He was 68. Among those giving their fond memories of him today was Minister of Culture Francis Fonseca, who took the opportunity to highlight Green’s invaluable contributions to the arts and education.

The service also saw a carnival band performance and a musical number by Soca artist Ernestine Carballo. Green’s ashes were taken to the Lord Ridge Cemetery after the service.
