Future PNP Gov’t Will Significantly Reduce Electricity Costs – Paulwell

3 months ago 12

Opposition Spokesman on Energy, Phillip Paulwell, says a future PNP administration will significantly reduce the cost of electricity in the country.

It’s one of the proposals the party presented to the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, PSOJ, on Monday.

According to Paulwell, the prevailing cost of energy is frustrating the country’s economic development.

Paulwell says a PNP government will prioritise reducing electricity theft in order to reduce the overall price of the commodity.

He adds that a future PNP government will reduce the validity of a new JPS licence from 20 to less than 10 years.

He says a new licence will permit operators within Special Economic Zones, SEZs, to generate and distribute electricity.
