Boys Class One 100-metre champion Gary Card, of Wolmer’s Boys’ School, was noticeably absent from the preliminaries of the 200 metres after suffering some discomfort in the 100-metre final last night at the 2025 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Card, the fastest athlete over the distance in the class this year, raised concerns after he appeared visibly strained during the 100m final.

The Wolmerian was scheduled to line up in heat one of the half-lap sprint this afternoon, but his lane was empty as Lacovia’s Rosean Smith sped to victory in 21.31 seconds.

Card was the favourite to pull off the sprint double and his absence could prove a heavy blow to Wolmer’s points tally.
