Gasparillo man arrested after police shooting

A 27-year-old man from Gasparillo was shot and arrested following a police-involved incident in Claxton Bay on Wednesday.

Police said officers on mobile patrol around 11:20 am on August 20, 2025, received information about an alleged drug transaction involving armed suspects. When they arrived at the location, three men attempted to flee.

According to police, one of the suspects drew what appeared to be a firearm and pointed it at officers. An officer then discharged his service pistol, hitting the man, who was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.

Police recovered a firearm and three rounds of ammunition at the scene.

A second suspect, also from Gasparillo, was later arrested, while a third man remains at large.

Investigations are continuing.
