George Price Sculpture Exhibition Opens at the National Assembly

A temporary sculpture exhibition honouring the Father of the Nation, the Right Honourable George Cadle Price, has opened at the National Assembly. Entitled “The Two Pillars of Belize Independence,” the exhibition forms part of the activities marking Belize’s forty-fifth anniversary of independence.  The exhibition features two busts of Price created by artist and sculptor Stephen Okeke. Crafted from yellow silicone bronze, the sculptures commemorate Price’s life, leadership and contribution to Belize’s journey toward self-government and independence. Okeke spoke about the artwork and the inspiration behind the exhibition.

The sculptures are being displayed in the foyer of the National Assembly, where they can be viewed by parliamentarians, staff, students and members of the public.  The exhibition remains open until September 30, from Monday to Friday between nine in the morning and four in the afternoon. School groups and members of the public may also arrange a tour of the National Assembly by contacting the Office of the Clerk.
