A twenty-seven-year-old resident of Georgeville Village lost his life in a fatal road traffic accident on the George Price Highway on Saturday night. Police say the incident occurred at approximately 9:24 p.m. within the San Ignacio jurisdiction. Upon responding to the scene, officers found the body of Thomas Lester Martinez in a roadside drain. Martinez had sustained severe injuries, including a broken ankle and bleeding from the eyes and mouth.
Initial investigations revealed that Martinez had been driving an all-terrain vehicle, or ATV, from Esperanza Village toward Georgeville when he was allegedly struck from behind.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “What we have learned so far in the course of the ongoing investigation is that both vehicles were traveling in the same direction being from Esperanza Village to Georgeville and preliminary investigation suggests that the ATV was struct from behind which caused Martinez to be flung into a nearby drain. A urine sample has also been obtained from Mr. Chen.”
Martinez was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m.
