For established recording artiste, I-Octane, a body of work is just as important as singles. According to the entertainer, an album has the ability to impact audiences through a powerful storyline across several songs. Declaring that he has a powerful story of self-preservation to tell, the artiste says his fans should look out for his project, God and I.
“The road to the project God and I was a personal journey and it will be powerful. My experiences shape my outlook on life. I sing a lot of hit songs, but I am also a fan of my music because it helps to alleviate my stress,” he said.
“The album has 15 tracks on it and it will show listeners where I-Octane is in his career right now. I am a giver and because of that quality, I opened myself up to being used over the years, It was like I was allergic to no and turning people down. This album is me saying that right now, my circle is small and my focus is on building a relationship with the Most High.”
“In music, we have good times and rough times, and we know when you have rough times it’s very rough. But the Almighty has kept me solid spiritually, mentally, and physically,” he continued. “So even though we have been through a lot of trials and tribulations, my success is owed to the almighty and my team.”
Speaking of his ‘not-so-good’ experiences with selfish individuals throughout his career, the entertainer revealed that Opportunist, one of the songs that will be on his upcoming album, is a representation of that phase of his life.
“I did the song to remind me that not every person in the world deserves ‘yes’ and it was powerful because it wasn’t just about me. It was about every single person in the world who has been used and abused and is now putting themselves first,” he said.
Opportunist which was released just over two months ago, features Shane-O. The song has already amassed three million views on YouTube. I-Octane said its success is a testament to the song’s message.
“As an artiste you sing a lot of songs and you know most of them will be loved by your core fans, but now and then the Almighty blesses you with a song that taps out of your fan base and that’s what Opportunist did for me,” he said. “The message resonated with people. They could relate and so they kept listening and showing love and support.”
With Opportunist still gaining traction, I Octane says he’s ready to carry that momentum into his album release. God and I is set to hit all digital platforms on Friday, April 25. The entertainer said he is excited to see how the project will be received.
“I am going to be doing promotional work for the next few weeks. It’s just going to be one of those albums that make you want to listen without a skip,” he said. “I can’t wait to hear the feedback because I put in the work on this project. I hope people will enjoy it.”
