Opposition leader, Mark Golding, has commended the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF for the recent reduction in murders.
He was speaking at a PNP East Central St Catherine campaign rally on Sunday.
The country has recorded a near 38 percent reduction in murders since the start of the year.
The JCF says up to May 3, 236 Jamaicans have been murdered.
That’s 143 fewer than the 379 murders recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The month of April ended with 44 reported murders.
That’s the lowest number of homicides recorded in any one month in Jamaica in 25 years.
But while Golding acknowledged the JCF’s recent success, he highlighted the need for accountability and body worn cameras.
