Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, says a PNP administration would evaluate alternate methods of distributing funding to local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs.
Mr. Golding was responding to a question from President of the MSME Alliance, Antoinette Hamilton, during a PNP Forum held at the Summit Hotel on Wednesday evening.
Miss Hamilton asked if a PNP administration would be open to implementing grant funding for MSMEs as well as other ways of giving back to small businesses.
Her question came in light of the government’s two billion dollar grant to the Development Bank of Jamaica for loans to MSMEs announced in March.
Mr. Golding notes that the party believes local MSME’s deserve support given their contributions to society.
