Golding Vetoed PNP’s Integrity Committee to Install Rowe in Central Kingston

Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the People’s National Party’s, PNP, Integrity Committee did not clear Lawrence Rowe to go forward as caretaker in Central Kingston.

In a letter to Rowe dated January 10, 2025, Golding says the committee found that Rowe was not fit and proper. He says despite this, he went against the committee and opted to give Rowe a chance.

Golding says his decision to drop Rowe from the PNP’s presumptive slate of candidates was due to two main things.

One is the unfavourable view that influential comrades in Central Kingston have of Rowe, to the extent that only one of them felt the decision to remove him as caretaker should be reversed.

The second reason cited by Golding is the deplorable condition in which Rowe left the constituency office after he removed the windows and doors he had installed at the building.

According to Golding, such behaviour made him realise the Integrity Committee was right about Rowe.

Golding says Rowe’s declaration that he would walk out of the party if he were bypassed for the election, was also part of the reason for not moving forward with him as the party’s candidate in waiting.

Despite this, Golding asks Rowe to get over his disappointment, put the party first and support whomever will carry the PNP’s banner in Central Kingston at the next general election.

He tells Rowe he will have a bright future in the PNP if he can earn the trust and admiration of, “us all”.
