Golding Wants Reversal of NWC’s Move to Withhold Water Quality Reports from KSAMC

Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, is calling on Water Minister, Matthew Samuda, to reverse the decision to withhold monthly water quality reports from the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, KSAMC.

In March this year, several PNP spokespersons raised concerns about the quality of water provided by the National Water Commission, NWC, to customers in Kingston and St. Andrew.

They noted that water quality tests by the NWC showed elevated levels of faecal coliform at some testing sites.

However, the NWC rejected the claim, saying the concerns were a misinterpretation of the data presented in the reports. The NWC’s position was supported by the Ministry of Health which said contaminated water was not being distributed to residents.

The water minister says a review will be undertaken on how reports will be shared.

But, Mr. Golding says the decision to stop sharing water quality reports with the KSAMC must be reversed immediately.
