Gov’t Faces Backlash Over $250K Purchase of Used SUV

Government has approved the spending of a quarter million dollars for a used SUV – this is according to a leaked cover letter signed by the Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amalia Mai.  The document was sent to our newsroom, dated some months ago, April 2, to be exact, and is addressed to the sales manager of the company, confirming the acquisition of a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser.  According to the document, Contract Number 15 of 2024/2025 was attached to the letter with an effective date of March 31, 2025.  The contract was said to be between the Government of Belize acting through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade. Love News understands that a few union leaders have already seen the contract and is taking issue with the spending of the two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a used vehicle.  Our newsroom will follow up for an official comment on the matter.
