Member of Parliament for East Central, St Catherine, Alando Terrelonge, has put forward a position he says represents that of the government that Caymanas Park should not be sold.

Terrelonge in whose constituency the Park is located, told Nationwide Sports that horse racing is part of the cultural fibre.

Terrelonge who is also State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, says he was one of those who fought to keep the facility opened during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The 196-acre facility has been at the centre of much discussions with lease holders Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited wanting full ownership in order to do the necessary renovations at the track.

In a previous interview with NATIONWIDE, Gary Peart, executive chairman of SVREL, said their only interest in full ownership is only being done to roll out the U.S one-hundred-million dollars they have to spend on the upgrade.
