The Government has approved a four-percent salary increase for public officers and other eligible public-sector employees, effective October 1. A circular issued by Financial Secretary Joseph Waight says the adjustment represents the second salary increase for the 2026–2027 fiscal year and forms part of the Proposed Framework Agreement for Salary Adjustment reached in June 2025. The increase applies to permanent public officers, open-vote workers, employees governed by labour laws, teachers, police officers, Coast Guard personnel and members of the Belize Defence Force. Pensioners will also receive a four-percent adjustment to their annual pension. Employees receiving fixed salaries outside the established pay scales will receive the increase on their annual base salaries. However, officers employed under contract and gratuity arrangements are excluded. The Ministry of Finance says eligible salaries will be adjusted automatically under the newly issued pay scales.///////
