The Government of Belize broke ground in rural Corozal for a police station. The new structure is being given a modern design and will be constructed in San Narciso Village, Corozal District. The facility is expected to significantly enhance policing services for an estimated 40,000 residents across thirteen surrounding communities, many of whom currently rely on limited law enforcement resources spread across a wide rural area. According to the Government Press Office, the new police station will be fully equipped to meet the demands of contemporary policing. Present at the groundbreaking was Minister of Home Affairs, Oscar Mira.

Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs: “This morning I was in San Narciso breaking ground for a new police station that is going to serve not only San Narciso but about 40,000 residents from the villages surrounding San Narciso. Next month we have another one so we are continuing delivering on the infrastructure for the Belize Police Department.”
It will include a dedicated Domestic Violence Unit, designed to provide confidential support and intervention for victims seeking help. The building will also feature a secure evidence room to ensure proper storage and chain-of-custody protocols, as well as private interview rooms where sensitive cases can be handled discreetly. In addition, the facility will house a crime investigation room, giving officers a designated space for case management, analysis, and follow-up. Conference rooms will be available for inter-agency meetings, community engagement sessions, and operational planning. To further strengthen 24-hour readiness, the station will also offer on-site accommodations for police personnel.
