The Government of Belize has delivered essential water infrastructure materials to Middlesex Village, marking another step in its stated effort to improve living standards and expand basic services in rural communities. Speaking at the handover, Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Rural Transformation, said the initiative reflects the administration’s emphasis on implementation and continuity. Shal noted that since taking office, the government has maintained its focus on delivering projects aimed at improving everyday conditions for residents. The project follows Middlesex Village’s transition to an independent water system after separating from a shared supply with the nearby Hummingbird Community. Officials explained that the move was necessary due to long-standing challenges, including low water pressure that affected households in Middlesex. According to government representatives, the newly delivered pipes and fittings are expected to directly address low-pressure issues for roughly 350 residents. The materials will also support the extension of water services into newly developed residential areas, allowing infrastructure to keep pace with population growth and future demand. The initiative is being carried out under the Ministry of Rural Transformation, with support from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing, Area Representative Rodwell Ferguson, the Middlesex Village Council, and community members.
