The Government of Belize is looking at ways to partner with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on projects that could benefit communities across the country. Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Louis Zabaneh, recently met with representatives of the Church, and focused on how the Church’s humanitarian support could help complement the country’s development goals. As part of the visit, the delegation met with officials at the Southern Regional Hospital to discuss healthcare needs in southern Belize and explore possible areas of support. They also held talks with the National Emergency Management Organization, NEMO, about community resilience, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and other humanitarian initiatives. The Church representatives traveled from Guatemala, where they oversee humanitarian work across the region. While based there, the Church already has an active presence in Belize through its local congregations and community outreach. Love news spoke with Director of Constitution and Religious Affairs, Ginee Neal, for more details on this initiative.
Love News will keep following this project and report accordingly./
