Gramps Morgan Completes First Solo U.S. Headline Tour

Reggae singer Gramps Morgan has wrapped his first-ever solo headlining tour across the United States, a milestone moment in his decades-long music career. The Water in My Whiskey Fall Tour spanned more than 25 shows, with stops in Hartford, Brooklyn, Maryland, Minneapolis, Charlotte, Tarrytown, Nashville, St. Louis, Mississippi, Houston, Dallas, Austin, and New Orleans.

The tour concluded on November 22 in West Palm Beach with a special surprise: a cameo appearance by Buju Banton, who joined Morgan onstage for their chart-topping collaboration 23rd Psalm.

“Sharing the stage with Buju is always like a prayer,” Morgan told Observer Online. “We’ve never performed any other song together, but every time we sing it, the moment feels just as powerful as the first time.”

Morgan was joined on tour by his sons, Jemere and Priel, highlighting what he described as a meaningful continuation of the family’s musical legacy.

“It was good having them on the tour. It really shows the strength of the family’s journey,” he said, adding that although he has toured for years with Morgan Heritage and as an opening act for Buju Banton and John Legend, headlining his own U.S. tour felt “incredible and humbling.”

Some venues sold out, while others were not filled to capacity, but Morgan said he was grateful for the opportunity to establish his solo name in new markets.

Impact of Hurricane Melissa

Properties owned by Morgan Heritage in St. Thomas were damaged by Hurricane Melissa, though Morgan noted the family’s losses were minor compared to devastation elsewhere on the island.

“We lost some crops and electricity, but nothing like what people on the western side experienced,” he said.

The Morgan Heritage Foundation will join other relief efforts, contributing supplies such as clothes, water, toiletries, and financial donations.

Upcoming Hurricane Relief Concert

On December 12, Morgan will perform at the UBS Arena in Queens, New York, alongside Shaggy, Sean Paul, Inner Circle, and other acts for a major fundraising concert supporting hurricane relief in Jamaica.

“I’m looking forward to raising funds to help Jamaica,” Morgan said. “It’s inspiring to see Shaggy’s leadership and the willingness of so many artists to join this important effort.”
