American track icon Michael Johnson says he has no regrets in taking the first event in his four meet Grand Slam Track series to Kingston.
12 Grand Slam champions were crowned at the National Stadium during the three day meet, each taking home U.S$100,000.
Jamaica’s two time and reigning world 100m hurdles champion Danielle Williams secured over 15 million Jamaican dollars as one of the Grand Slam champions while a number of other local stars also won millions of Jamaican dollars in prize monies.
Johnson admitted that he would have loved to see more spectators in the stadium, but he thinks it was still the best decision to bring the first meet in the series to Kingston.
The four time Olympic champion says it was not always smooth sailing, but the lessons from the first meet will serve them well going into the Miami leg of the series May 2-4.
