Grange Charged with Reviewing Framework on Retaining Athletes

Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Holness, has charged Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange, with the holding consultations with stakeholders on a new framework for the development and retention of the country’s elite athlete.

Speaking at the Nike Tribute to honour the extraordinary achievements and enduring legacy of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Prime Minister Dr. Holness asked that Jamaica approach the matter on the athletes switching allegiance to Turkey with compassion and thoughtfulness.

Prime Minister Dr. Holness acknowledges that the development has stirred concern and emotions across Jamaica.
