Grange Expresses Condolences to Family of TT Stalwart

Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange has issued a statement expressing her condolences to the family of Table Tennis Stalwart, Gary Royes who passed away recently.

In the statement minister Grange said, “It is with deep sadness that I extend heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Christen Dobson Royes, her son Logan, and the entire Royes family on the untimely passing of Mr. Gary Royes.”

The statement went on to says, ” Mr. Royes was more than a parent — he was a pillar of unwavering support to the youth in our sporting community. A devoted father to Logan, a national junior champion and proud Jamaica College student, who recently returned from Barbados as a member of the third-place Under-15 Caribbean Championships team.”

Minister Grange also said, ” Gary was always present — cheering from the sidelines, capturing the moments, and quietly doing the work that often goes unseen but never unappreciated.”

She Said, “Gary Royes served as the dedicated videographer, capturing countless matches without ever asking for anything in return. He was also known for his kindness and generosity — repairing rackets, assisting players, and always making representation to me on behalf of the JTTA and making himself available for all, without hesitation.”

In closing Minister Grange said, “Jamaica’s sports community has lost a true friend and a quiet hero. May we honour his memory by continuing to uplift and support one another, just as he always did.”
