Former Cricket West Indies chief executive officer Johnny Grave says he would not support a rotating policy for selecting West Indies Cricket Board president as proposed by the Guyana Cricket Board and the Barbados Cricket Association .
Grave said that while elections and changing leaderships are disruptive to plans, he believes the best candidate should be elected in a democratic process.
Grave said rotation is not the way forward, as he believes there are so many good leaders in the Caribbean and the best person should be put forward and democratically be appointed.
He said a four-year term for the leadership of the organisation would fall in line with the Olympics and World Cup calendars and that it would give the leadership a four-year period to work with management to articulate a strategic plan.
He says there are other important areas that need focus and attention including the professionalisation of the territorial boards and greater emphasis and planning at the grassroots level.
Grave also emphasise that after 30 years of trying, he now feels that there is long-term meaningful governance change on the horizon, especially now that Caricom is more involved.
