In a separate incident, police are investigating reports that a gunman on a motorcycle fired towards a couple in Belize City on Saturday night. Around ten-thirty-two, officers stationed at the Taylor’s Alley checkpoint heard two suspected gunshots and went to investigate. At the corner of Pregnant Alley and Cemetery Road, twenty-seven-year-old Kimara Carillo told police she and her boyfriend were heading to buy food when a motorcycle carrying two men approached. She reported that the passenger pointed what appeared to be a firearm and fired towards them near the Salvation Army Primary School. The couple ran into Pregnant Alley, and she heard a second shot shortly afterwards. The motorcycle then sped towards Albert Street. Scenes of Crime personnel recovered one expended nine-millimetre shell casing. No injuries or property damage were reported. Police say Carillo declined to provide a statement when contacted the following day, and a check of a nearby surveillance camera yielded no footage.
