Hanover Comrades ‘Not Affected’ by Defections to the JLP

The People’s National Party’s, PNP, prospective candidate in Western Hanover, Heatha Miller-Bennett, says the party will not be affected by the decision of two high profile former comrades to switch allegiance to the governing Jamaica Labour Party.

The two defectors are Craig Oates, a former policeman who was rejected by the PNP in his bid for the Eastern Hanover seat and Kenroy Calame, the man who failed to get the nod to represent the PNP in the Cauldwell Division in last year’s local government elections.

Oates has since said he left the PNP because of how the party sought to damage his reputation, even after he spent several million dollars to boost its fortunes in Hanover.

Speaking on Sunday, Mrs Miller-Bennett described both men as baggage the PNP is happy to be rid of.
