Harbour View FC are not taking their brush with relegation from the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) sitting down, and have embarked on an ambitious plan to ensure they have a revolving door of talent for seasons to come.
The Stars of the East recently inked a three-year partnership with The Football Scout Consultancy agency, which team manager Clyde Jureidini described as a major step for the club.
He explained that the partnership will not only impact their operations in the JPL, but rather for all their development programmes with their youth teams.
“This is something that will benefit the entire club, but the Premier League will be an obvious target. We have always focused historically on our youth teams, hence why they will be included there,” he explained.
“It extends what we have always been doing but now we will be working in a formal way with an international set of professional football scouts in a consultant agency.”
Jureidini explained that a major part of this partnership will be an improvement in how the club records and analyses their various training sessions and competitive fixtures.
He said this new data-driven approach should see significant impact on both players and managerial staff alike.
“They will first start with online seminars and discussions with our coaches, team managers, and we are to select some of our junior players, Premier League players, past players and our masters who want to be volunteers to collect data around games, training sessions, competitions and events.
“We will then use those data and transfer them into analyses of players, of tactics and techniques to share with the coaches, players, parents and, of course, the different technical groups.”
BOOSTING PLAYER PROFILES
Another benefit of this partnership will also be their ability to better market and boost their players’ profiles to the international scene.
Jureidini said, with more video footage of their players, along with readily available sports data, the club will be able to promote their players to prospective clubs and agents.
This, he explained, will increase the number of players moving to international markets and create more revenue for the club.
“Part of the by-product from the deal is that they are football agents as well as consultants, so we can take these analysis, data and reports and present them to international clubs,” he said.
“This will put the players in professional environments, primarily in Europe. We’re looking at trials and transfers to boost these achievements internationally.”
He added, “And then, in return, hopefully, this can help the players generate an ongoing streamline for their careers and generate income for the club.”
