Captain Hayley Matthews hit an unbeaten century to guide the West Indies women to a nine-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first One Day International, on Sunday.
Matthews’ 104 came off 93-balls and included 16-fours. Qiana Joseph made 70 and Shemaine Campbelle was 14 not out.
Earlier, Bangladesh had made 198 for 9 off their 50 overs. Murshida Khatun made 40, Sharmin Akter, 42, and Sobhana Mostary, 35.
Matthews says this is the start the team wanted to the series.
The 163 runs partnership between openers Joseph and Matthews is the third highest in the West Indies women history.
